Japanese sake tasting event^

Join us for an evening of tasting two brands of Japanese sake – Katsyama and Juyondai. Katsyama is the only existing sake brewery in Sendai, which was chosen by feudal lord Date Masamune during the Edo period. Guests will also be able to taste Juyondai – a brand most Hong Kongers will associate with high-quality sake. An expert at our event will guide you through the story behind the celebrated brands and offer insights into the world of sake.

Sammy Leung
After studying in Japan for the last 20 years, Sammy has built a solid reputation in the sake industry. As a sommelier, trainer, consultant and a trader between Europe and Japan, Sammy is a certified Kikisake-shi. In fact, he is one of two official International Kikisake-shi course instructors in Hong Kong, and a founder member of the Japan Sake Service Institute (Hong Kong branch).
This event will feature two brands of sake – Born and Juyondai. Born has been chosen by emperors for libation at ceremonies, festivals, national dinners and as gifts to other countries. Born is a “superstar” brand that triumphs in numerous international competitions and is exported to more than 30 countries. Our guests will also get to taste Juyondai, a brand most Hong Kongers will associate with high-quality sake. An expert will guide you through the story behind these celebrated brands and offer insights into the wider world of sake.

1O1O is hosting a series of sake exhibitions and tasting events at 1O1O Central from November to December 2016. The idea is to enable our customers to identify different styles of sake, types of rice and various bottling methods, while a kikisake-shi – or sake sommelier – shares his views and insights. Sip the purest beverage and discover a treasure of the Far East.
